WIN-LA Spotlight
Metro's Workforce Initiative Now-Los Angeles (WIN-LA) is Metro's new workforce development program developed to focus on creating career pathways in the transportation industry. WIN-LA will provide career pathways in the core areas of :
- Construction
- Operations/Maintenance
- Administration
- Professional Services
WIN-LA provides participants with resources and support to help them prepare for career opportunities. Participants of WIN-LA receive a wide range of support, resources and training including :
- Life skills development
- Assessing and building skills
- Training
- Education (i.e. high school diploma/GED attainment services)
As apart of WIN-LA all participants receive core services, including an introduction to transportation, resume preparation training and training focused on building interview skills.

WIN-LA increases the opportunities available to Los Angeles County residents by inclusion of underrepresented populations. WIN-LA recognizes members of priority communities that meet any of the following categories:
- Individuals in economically disadvantaged areas (defined by zip codes where median household annual income is less than $40,000)
- Homeless
- Single custodial parent
- Receiving public assistance
- Lacking GED or high school diploma
- Criminal record or history with the criminal justice system
- Chronically unemployed
- Emancipated from foster care
- Veteran of Iraq or Afghanistan War
In addition, WIN-LA also targets outreach to:
- Community college students
- Women

We support participants through a dedicated career coach and network of service providers.
Through an individualized career pathway plan, we connect participants to education and training opportunities to build and enhance knowledge and technical skill sets.
Through career pathways, we provide access to employment giving people the tools they need to build better lives and sustainable communities.
